Which museums are open in Florence on Mondays?

Are the Uffizi and Accademia museums open on Monday?

No. They are always closed on Mondays (special openings around main holidays such as Easter are good exceptions) and they are always open on Sundays. That is just how they have chosen to organize their work week.

Thus from this "problem" of these two main museums in Florence being closed on Mondays, we get the following questions:

What museums are open on Mondays in Florence? What to do on Mondays in Florence?

In general, museums in Florence alternate their opening and closing days so that not all museums are closed on the same day! Makes sense, right? Some close on Sundays, others on Mondays (the Uffizi and Accademia are the main ones) and a few others close on Tuesdays.

Sometimes they have alternate closings during the month such as open the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month but closed on the 2nd and 4th. These can be very confusing! As you're planning your visit to Florence, we figured a quick guide with a list of museums that are open on Mondays should make it easier for you to plan your visit, let me know if you find any info missing you'd like me to add by posting on the comments at the end of the page.

Again, please make this important note: the Uffizi and Accademia are always closed on Mondays but open on Sundays. Also pay attention to the notes below as they indicate particular hours or cumulative tickets.
