European Night at the Museum returns this Saturday

This Saturday, July 3, several museums in Florence are open for the European Night at the Museum 2021, with extended evening hours and an entrance fee of 1 euro.

Normally this event, begun to promote the artistic heritage of the Old Continent, takes place in May, but this edition was moved to the height of summer due to the pandemic. Because of this, the 2021 program is also more limited than in previous years.

With this European Night at the Museum we can once again experience art at a reduced rate this Saturday, July 3, 2021. Four state museums in Florence will be open from 7 to 10pm and during these hours the museums can be visited at the symbolic price of 1 euro: this includes the Uffizi Gallery, the Accademia Gallery, the Bargello Museum and the Opificio delle Pietre Dure museum.

Before 7pm the rate will remain the usual one, while there will be free admission for the categories that are normally entitled to it during the evening hours. In the surroundings of Florence we would like to point out the free opening of the Medici Villa of Cerreto Guidi for the Night at the Museum 2021 with guided tours at 6.00 pm and 7.00 pm dedicated to Isabella Medici Orsini (reservations required tel. 0571 55671).

For the Uffizi Gallery, which had not participated in the Night at the Museum for two years, reservations are not required. As for the Accademia Gallery, which from today July 1st reopens the first floor dedicated to the Florentine Late Gothic to visitors, booking entrance for this Saturday is mandatory either online or by calling Firenze Musei on 055 294883. So to the cost of the ticket of 1 euro you will need to add the cost of the reservation. Last admission is at 9.30pm.

No reservations are needed for the Bargello Museum, which also is currently hosting the exhibition “Honorable Citizen of Florence”, dedicated to Dante Alighieri’s relationship with his city. The last admission is scheduled at 9.20pm.

A reservation is required to visit the Opificio delle Pietre Dure Museum (via degli Alfani): to avoid crowds, an online service has been activated to set the time of entry, between 7pm and 10pm for this Night at the Museum. Reservations already started on June 28th and there are 5 entry times, each for a maximum of 6 visitors and with exit scheduled 60 minutes later: at 7.00 pm, 7.30 pm, 8.00 pm, 8.30 pm and 9.00 pm. In case the slots are sold out, it will be possible to add yourself to a waiting list. But don’t wait if you’re interested, book now because this museum is truly a beauty!

The Marino Marini Museum has also just announced it participation in the Night at the Musuem: the museum will be open from 9pm to 12am midnight, with the last entrance at 11.30pm, with entry just 1 euro. You do not need to book entry, just purchase your ticket directly at the museum.
