Old Glories Calcio Match on June 15th

Within the program of the Calcio Storico Fiorentino’s Tournament of St. John 2018, the city of Florence has decided to organize a few extra events on June 15th and 16th. On the 15th is a benefit match of the “Old Glories” of Calcio Storico in collaboration with the Fondazione ANT 1978 and the association 50 Minuti. The “Old Glories” are essentially Calcio Storico players that are no longer active in the main tournament but that still play and are involved with the team.

This the program for the day, with the route the historical parade, the Corteo della Repubblica Fiorentina, will take through the streets of Florence to reach Piazza Santa Croce, site of the game.

Program: 

  • 6:00pm      Start of the parade in historical costume by the Corteo della Repubblica Fiorentina;
  • 6:30pm      Arrival of the parade and entrance by players and parade participants into Piazza Santa Croce;
  • 7:00pm      Start of match;
  • 7:50pm      End of match, with the Corteo della Repubblica Fiorentina returning to parade returning to the Palagio di Parte Guelfa.

The route the Corteo della Repubblica Fiorentina will take:

START at 6:00pm from Piazzetta di Parte Guelfa, then on to: Via Pellicceria, Via di Porta Rossa, Piazza del Mercato Nuovo, Por Santa Maria,  Piazza della Signoria, Via della Ninna, Via dè Neri, Via dè Benci, Borgo Santa Croce, Via Magliabechi, Piazza Santa Croce.

The Corteo’s members will remain in Piazza Santa Croce while the game is palayed making sure the small cannon called Colubrina is exploded whenever a caccia (score) is made.

At the end of the game, the Colubrina will also signal the conclusion of the match and the Corteo will re-enter the piazza before heading back to Piazzetta di Parte Guelfa.

RETURN route should start at 7:50pm from Piazza Santa Croce and head on: Borgo dè Greci, Via dè Gondi, Piazza della  Signoria, Via Calzaiuoli, Porta Rossa, Via Pellicceria, Piazzetta di Parte Guelfa.
